is college worth it?

usually i write about entertainment or fashion but today (8.31.09) there is an article in the USA TODAY that talks about student loans and debt. this is a topic that im sure most of you (my readers) are going through or will be going through real soon. i dont want to bore you with percentages but i will throw some numbers or maybe facts that will make you think, was this really worth it. 

entering college before 2006/2007, recession was not a word nowhere near our vocabulary. for most college students, loans are the way to get through school. not until recently, college students really started to pay attention to their universities cost because we all know that the time is coming when Sallie Mae is going to start calling and want her money. The article stated that community colleges enrollment have increased in the past 2 years while more traditional universities are struggling to keep enrollment up and at a reasonable price. 

i have been questioning this whole college thing for about 3 years now because it seems to me that that piece of paper that you get when you walk across that stage doesnt mean anything. their are professionals with masters being laid off from career type jobs. dont get me wrong, i want to walk across that stage and make my family proud but at the end of it all, EYE am the one who has to pay these loans back. 

i can go on and on about this topic. i just really encourage you to pick up a USA TODAY and educate yourself more on this topic...stop watching BET for a moment and read.

ive been a little distant from the blog lately so i decided to catch ppl up on whats going on...(random)...

school has started and im dreading it. i have 8 class left til graduation. 4 in the fall and 4 in the spring. may 2010 til i can my family proud.

unmistakably cool. is going under construction. i realized that i entered a very saturated market by starting my own clothing line. therefore, i am taking my time and working on creating timeless pieces that i (and maybe you) will feel comfortable in. 

interning at kreativ.sole is going great. we have had a great month of august so far. to be open for 4 months the store is really progressing. im glad to be apart of the movement. 

ive been working on some of my hobbies and liking the result of it. i never set out to be a real huge photographer. i just like the way certain pics look. i try to explain it to some what type of pictures i like but its better if i show it to them. im waiting on some new programs on the mac so that i can edit the pics and let you all see what i really like. 

i picked up some new reading material. 2 of my favorite magazines (vapors & complex). it gives me a lot of insight about whats going on in the fashion world. i try to see whats next or whats coming back. plus im trying to work on actually reading things that are NOT on the internet. 

this past weeks events: 

• partied with freshmens (never again...too old). 
  
• seen two ex's and they damn near broke they neck to speak. i smiled and kept going (hahaha and they were the ones to do me wrong...i win!). 
• heard my new theme song...rich kidz feat. lil scrappy and ludacris - my patna dem 
  
• missed the fli pelican party in the A but think i will be attending the one in memphis. 
• amber rose got naked...nuff said.
• missed sneaker pimps in chicago...damn!
• ...there is more but im tired...next time.

progress of unmistakably cool...

some of you know that Unmistakably CooL. is the name of my clothing line (if not, then now you know now). i started this blog as a way to market myself for when i get my bizness in order. then i thought it would be a great way to let the some people know where my inspiration comes from and the things i like. a lot of people didnt know i was into half the stuff that i post on the blog. but thats what a blog is all about, kinda like a personal journal. when shirts are ready, then you will see them advertised on here but i will still continue with my regular post. 

when i first started blogging, i felt like a hypebeast. posting 20 things a day. i then realized i wanted to post stuff that people normally wouldnt see or think about. then i decided to lower the number of post a day. make readers remember what i was posting. 

as of late i have been really motivated and ready to get out my product. along the way i make blog post that inspire me to do what i do. the blog will become more personal so readers can actually see my journey to a championship. i feel i have the ideas and drive to be great. more down the line when shirts are ready, i will explain the meaning behind Unmistakably CooL. im just being me...welcome to my world :: all things that are Unmistakably CooL.

i have been sitting on this post for about 2 or 3 days now. matt from dope couture was interviewed by projekt media to talk about the line and how it all got started. i have been watching this over and over again because it inspires me to be great. i have been working on my line for some time now. i must say that its not easy. it may come easy to some but not to all. matt is the homie and his progress as a line then to a boutique as well is really laying the foundation down for me. i just want to wear what i like and hopefully some may like it as well. i dont need a million people wearing my shirts. me wearing my own out weighs that number any day. listen to matt and his story.
